Answers to Common Queries

The number of committees looks to be reduced from previous years. Why are the committees changing?

ORRA’s primary focus is to add value for our members, which is why ORRA leadership has developed a future-forward strategic plan.

To ensure we are on track with our goals and objectives, ORRA’s committee structure has been updated to better align with the strategic plan.

Do I need previous committee experience to apply?

No, anyone can apply to join a committee. In fact, we encourage those who have never been on a committee before to sign up and gain this valuable experience.

How does the committee application process work?

First, you must submit a committee application through the ORRA portal (NRDS # and password required). Once you apply, your application is reviewed. Committee members are selected based on the needs of the current committee. For joining a council, please refer to our specific council websites and apply through there.

What do I need to know to be on the Finance Committee?

You can sign up for a council’s operations committee and help plan the programming and events your fellow members will benefit from.

How do I benefit from serving on a committee?

The benefits of serving on a committee are numerous. You become involved with ORRA at the grassroots level, sharing ideas and influencing ORRA’s future.

In addition, you build your business, skills, and know-how through working with your industry peers.

I’ve been a member of ORRA and never served on a committee, why should I consider serving?

We want your fresh perspective as well as your time and talents to shape ORRA’s future! It also provides an opportunity to network with fellow ORRA members.

Committee members are selected based on the needs of the current committee. Every year, those needs change, which means that the opportunities to serve change as well.
