The Orlando area is hot, hot, hot, and people are noticing. From retirement to business climate to real estate markets to foodie culture, the Orlando area sits atop several key rankings.
Retiree-Friendliness
In a recent report by WalletHub comparing the retiree-friendliness of more than 180 U.S. cities across 48 key metrics including affordability, activities, quality of life, and health care, Orlando earned the top spot.
Orlando’s mild climate, tax friendliness on the estate or inheritance tax, and abundant recreation activities –– Orlando has the most fishing facilities and public golf courses per capita –– are all factors that helped vault the city to the top of the list.
The city also scored points as a great place to retire when it comes to health care available with the most home health care facilities per capita.
The Hottest Construction Markets in the Country
With one of the hottest construction markets in the country, Orlando was named the second-best city to start a construction business according to a new survey by office support company Alliance Virtual Offices.
Thriving commercial and industrial development, low cost of construction materials and labor, and demand for housing and infrastructure all make Orlando a top city for starting a construction business.
The report also highlighted that Disney’s plans to relocate at least 2,000 employees to the Orlando area will drive growth and increase the need for development.
Orlando Ranked Higher Than All Other Florida Real Estate Markets
When it comes to real estate markets, Orlando ranked higher than all other Florida real estate markets in WalletHub’s Best Real Estate Markets ranking.

And for all the foodies out there, the Orlando area has that covered too. In another ranking by WalletHub, Orlando was named the second-best foodie city in the U.S., edged out of the top spot –– which went to Portland, Oregon –– by a slim margin.
