The Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association has been awarded a $5,000 grant to continue its efforts to educate local high school students on the basics about financing a home purchase. This community outreach program is a joint project with Junior Achievement of Central Florida.

The grant, funded through National Association of REALTORS® Housing Opportunity initiative, was secured through efforts of the ORRA Market Diversity Subcommittee.

It’s crucial for all potential homeowners to be aware of the financial considerations of homeownership. So ORRA starts with the youngest future homebuyers, and you can help!

ORRA needs 400 REALTOR® volunteers willing to teach the home loan curriculum of Junior Achievement’s “Finance Park” program, which provides high school seniors with financial education on topics ranging from credit cards to taxes to budgeting. The program is held on specific days during the school year, and nearly all high schools in Orange and Seminole counties offer “Finance Park” to their students.

Volunteers need only commit to attending a 1.5-hour training session that will be held at ORRA, and to a one-day teaching assignment for a minimum of a one-hour class on their assigned day. You can select the day you wish to participate, indicate the school of your choice, and even team teach with a fellow REALTOR®.

Deadline to register as a volunteer teacher: January 26, 2015
