Ken Artigas, Exit Realty, was featured in Orlando REALTOR® magazine more than six years ago for his community service activities. Is he still at it? Yep.

Back in 2006, Artigas served as director of the West Orange County Food Pantry in Ocoee, where he helped feed more than 200 people every week out of the organization’s cavernous warehouse. The difference now is that the West Orange County Food Pantry was shuttered due to the economic squeeze, so Artigas took up the cause and moved it to his own garage.

The new Central Florida Compassion Center, which assists struggling families and the homeless, served more than 9,000 people in 2012 by providing food, clothing, and help with challenges such as applying for food stamps.

Artigas estimates that he spends at least 15 hours a week on volunteer work, an endeavor that provides him with enormous personal satisfaction. "You rarely feel better about yourself than after you’ve provided hope to a single mom, an unemployed husband, or a struggling senior citizen,” says Artigas. 'It’s an incredible feeling.”
