Both REALTORS® and attorneys braved Orlando’s road construction to meet bright and early for the 28th Annual Real Estate Legal Summit at the Wyndham Orlando Resort near SeaWorld.
After welcoming words by ORRA CEO Cliff Long and an invocation by ORRA Treasurer Reese Stewart, attendees jumped right into a day full of current legal topics within the real estate realm. (Those REALTORS® who stayed for the complete program earned seven hours of continuing education credit).
Presenters of the first session, Roland Acosta, Esq. and Sultana Haque, Esq., took advantage of modern technology to poll the audience with a “Who Gets The Commission” quiz: REALTOR® A, who escorted a buyer through multiple showings and the lending process, or REALTOR® B, a friend of the buyer who submitted a purchase contract for the buyer while REALTOR A® was on vacation.
If you chose REALTOR® A, like most of the crowd, you’d be correct.
After two more topics the room broke for lunch, then it was back on the legal track with sessions ranging from HOA liens to escrow management to the impact of medical marijuana regulations on commercial real estate.
At the end of the day, those not willing to brave the after-work rush hour stuck around for a closing reception and enjoyed refreshments and mingling until the traffic thinned out before heading home.
