Question: Why do I need to take a REALTOR® Code of Ethics class every four years?

Answer: The promise to voluntarily adhere to the standards and practices set forth in the REALTOR® Code of Ethics is what distinquishes a REALTOR® from a real estate licensee.

The National Association of REALTORS® — as a requirement of membership — requires that all members complete an approved training course on the REALTOR® Code of Ethics once within a four-year cycle (the current cycle ends on December 31, 2012). REALTORS® who do not complete the training requirement by December 31, 2012 will have their local, state, and national REALTOR® membership revoked.
