ORRA set to launch series of free foreclosure-prevention workshops for consumers
Monday, January 17, 2011
The Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association (ORRA) will be holding a free foreclosure-prevention workshop for homeowners on Wednesday, February 16, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at Timber Creek High School. Speaker Cathy McDaniel, author of A Road Map To Saving Your Home, will address questions such as:
- What happens when I miss a mortgage payment?
- How does mortgage foreclosure work?
- What are my alternatives?
The presentation will also include a panel of attorneys provided by the Central Florida Real Estate Council (CFREC).
The foreclosure-prevention workshop is part of a series produced by ORRA, which was awarded a $5,000 grant from the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) in support of the program. ORRA is matching the grant with its own funds, and CFREC is contributing $500 toward each workshop.
The funding from NAR is provided through its Foreclosure Prevention and Response Program, which aids REALTORS®, their clients, and the nation's communities in facing the challenges of the current market. Through this program NAR offers grants to help state and local REALTOR® associations develop coordinated plans of action to prevent foreclosures and respond to their adverse affects.
REALTORS® who are interested in attending the public workshop are encouraged to register for the "Foreclosure Prevention Workshop Training For REALTORS®" class that will be held on Monday, February 14 from 9:00 a.m. – 4 p.m. at ORRA. The class is worth six continuing education credits and costs $99 to register.
The foreclosure-prevention class will prepare REALTORS® to help homeowners facing foreclosure, and will also include a component on how to host your own foreclosure-prevention workshop.
