As you all know, the privilege of interacting with ORRA’s members is one element of the presidency which I value greatly, as is the privilege of being able to share their accomplishments with you.
In this message, I would like to single out two members who will have the honor of being inducted into the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council (REBAC) Hall of Fame. Alison Maltby (pictured right), of The Anderson Group & Co., and ORRA Past President Steve Merchant (pictured above), of Global Realty International, will be in the spotlight when REBAC holds its Hall of Fame ceremonies this November during the 2016 REALTORS® Conference & Expo in Orlando.
REBAC is the NAR-affiliated organization which manages the Accredited Buyer’s Representative designation program. Its Hall of Fame inductees are recognized for their service to clients, the REALTOR organization, and their communities. Of the 25,000 active REBAC members, fewer than 100 are in the Hall of Fame. I’m proud to say that Alison and Steve are outstanding inductees on a national scale for demonstrating the highest principles of good practice among REALTORS. They, along with the legion of local REALTORS who have now completed ORRA’s Excellence in Professionalism course and received Gold Key Certification, will continue to work wonders in our grassroots efforts to improve the public image of Orlando’s REALTORS®.
The ORRA Board of Directors considers REALTOR® education, like that provided through the Gold Key Certification program, to be a crucial contributing factor to professionalism in our industry. Education is paramount to the Association’s ultimate objective of providing members the tools and resources they need to succeed in their business. For these reasons, ORRA leadership will continue its efforts to offer members free and discounted educational programs.
In addition to our offerings of free and discounted classes – many of which are worth Continuing Education credits – the ORRA BOD recently voted to offer substantial discounts on other education programs. Brokers were invited to attend their own ABR course at a reduced rate. It should come as no surprise that, as a result, it was one of the largest ABR class ever held! All ORRA members have been invited to take advantage of $100 discount for the upcoming ABR course on September 28-29 (see page 6 for more information).
There is one more meaningful discount coming your way in November. The ORRA BOD just approved giving a 50% rebate on the Premier Access Pass ($450) or the One Day Pass ($200) for the REALTORS Conference and Expo. Up to 1,000 ORRA members can qualify. Simply register (at realtor.org), attend, and then submit ORRA’s rebate form (found at orlandorealtors.org) to receive your 50% back!
Education is an essential component of retaining your real estate license, increasing your sales, providing your clients with the best possible service, staying informed about the latest legal issues, and so much more. It is our priority to provide you with top-notch educational programming. I hope you will make it your priority to take advantage of all that ORRA offers.

REBAC Hall of Fame
When Alison Maltby and Steve Merchant are inducted into the REBAC Hall of Fame this November, ORRA members and relations will account for five of the Hall of Fame’s 92 total inductees.
