The Florida Real Estate Foundation (ORRA’s charitable arm) has exceeded its $810,000 fundraising goal for Heroes’ Commons at Jefferson Park, a housing development for local military veterans.
A $125,000 donation from the Fair Housing Continuum in early December, in addition to an earlier $180,000 donation from the group, has now made it possible for FREF to complete construction of six homes and donate them mortgage-free to income-qualified veterans.
“Fair Housing Continuum, Inc., is pleased to support the Florida Real Estate Foundation and its mission to provide affordable workforce housing in Central Florida,” says the organization’s executive director, David Baade. “The Heroes’ Commons at Jefferson Park project aligns with FHC’s own efforts to spur sustained redevelopment in the Parramore neighborhood, and we remain committed to ensuring homeownership opportunities for the residents of this historic area of downtown Orlando.”
FREF has also received a $100,000 donation from Dr. Phillips Charities that was contingent on the foundation meeting its fundraising goal for the project.
