Wednesday, March 18, 2015
The Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association sponsored a Central Florida Commission on Homelessness event that featured the release of an encouraging report on local veteran homelessness. The ORRA-sponsored report cites a 59 percent drop in veteran homelessness in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties since 2011, when President Obama launched an initiative that made housing the top priority for veteran assistance programs.

ORRA President Sharon Voss opened the March 18 event with remarks addressing an audience of Veterans Administration officials, policy makers, and scientists.
“As you might imagine, REALTORS® have a vested interest in housing,” said Voss. "Safe housing and shelter is essential to a person’s quality of life and their ability to be a productive member of society. The opportunity to ensure that homelessness is never again associated with a veteran is a privilege for our industry. That is why the Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association is proud to lend a hand as you do the important work of creating programs and policies that address homelessness among our veteran population.”
