ORRA Voting Recommendations:
REALTOR® Frank Scheraldi - Longwood City Commission
Cynthia Harris - Orlando City Commission
John Land - City of Apopka Mayor
The Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association has selected to support REALTOR® Frank Scheraldi for election to the Longwood City Commission, District 4; Cynthia Harris for election to the Orlando City Commission, District 5; and John Land for re-election as mayor of the City of Apopka.
The election will take place on April 8.
“REALTOR® Frank Scheraldi (pictured at left), a current member of ORRA, is a working residential real estate agent and as such understands the important role that city regulations and enforcement have on real estate values and on property taxes,” says ORRA Chairman Zola Szerencses, RE/MAX 200 Realty. “The Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association is particularly proud to recommend for election a REALTOR® who will bring the real estate perspective into public office.”
ORRA is supporting Cynthia Harris due to her involvement in the community and her knowledge of the critical issues facing Orlando’s District 5. “During her interview with the ORRA Candidate Screening Committee, Cynthia impressed with her solid suggestions that impact residents’ quality of life, an important consideration for REALTORS®,” explains Szerencses. “She offered solid suggestions for addressing quality-of-life issues such as job-training opportunities, education improvements, and healthcare access.”
ORRA's backing of John Land is bolstered by his history of support for REALTOR®- favored real-estate issues. “Mayor Land has a long and accomplished record as Apopka’s mayor, in
addition to being a strong supporter of real estate issues,” says ORRA
Chairman Zola Szerencses, RE/MAX 200 Realty. “For example he has kept
Apopka’s property taxes low for the last 10 years, and his
administration has worked well with ORRA representatives on those issues
that are important to REALTORS® such as sign ordinances. REALTORS® –
and all voters – would do well to offer this distinguished public
servant the opportunity to serve another term.”
The Recommendation Process
ORRA considers each candidate up for election based on his or her past voting record and/or sensitivity to real estate issues such as private property rights. Candidates are invited to participate in a screening process by the ORRA Candidate Screening Subcommittee, which then makes candidate recommendations to the ORRA Board of Directors for final approval.
ORRA endorsed candidates who accept campaign contributions are provided with $500 toward their campaign from the REALTORS® Political Action Committee.
The Orlando Regional REALTOR® Association, recognized as one of the most innovative local real estate associations in the country, represents more than 9,500 real estate professionals throughout Central Florida.
