ORRA introduces Florida REALTORS'® military certification program
Tuesday, March 5, 2013
ORRA’s initial offering of the Florida Military Specialist (FMS) certification program, a two-day course created by Florida REALTORS® and worth 11 continuing education credits, will be Wednesday, May 22 through Thursday, May 23.
The FMS certification program is designed to teach REALTORS® about the unique challenges faced by active military, reservists, and military retirees as they buy or sell homes. Discussion topics include issues such as disability, government assistance programs, and the psychological impact that service may have on members of the military and their families. The course will also explore special financing options available to members of the military for both home purchase and renovation.

The cost of the course ($99 per person) is being subsidized by the ORRA Market Diversity Subcommittee, which earned a $5,000 Diversity Initiative Grant from the National Association of REALTORS® in support of the program.
In addition to supporting the FMS course, the grant will fund a series of homebuyer workshops for veterans and will pay for the production of a workshop-planning toolkit for those ORRA members who wish to conduct their workshops. ORRA’s veteran homebuyer workshops will be held in the summer and fall of this year.
Can’t commit to a two-day program? Consider ORRA’s half-day class "Selling Real Estate to Veterans and Understanding the VA Loan Guaranty Program.” It’s worth three continuing education credits, and ORRA members pay only $15.
