What Every REALTOR® Should Know About Environmental Issues in Real Estate

This course will discuss environmental issues such as endangered species and wetlands that can be potential ‘deal breakers’ for you and your customer and what kinds of red flags to look for.

The course objectives are built to:
  • Develop an understanding of what a wetland is and why it is important to consider them in real estate transactions.
  • Identify some protected wildlife species and how they can affect the development of a property.
  • Develop an understanding of the liability for a landowner that may have hazardous waste issues on their property.
  • List agencies that are responsible for regulating environmental issues.
  • List types of mitigation options available to sellers or buyers involved with land containing environmental issues.
  • List types of studies that can be completed to determine if there are environmental concerns on a property.
  • Explain to sellers the pros and cons of spending money to identify environmental concerns on their property.
